Amsterdam Waste Environmental Consultancy Technology bv (AWECT)signs an MoU with the Government of Pakistan for US$1 billion development of a High Efficiency Waste to Energy facility and water desalination plant

Karachi, 1st December 2020 – AWECT, developer of High Efficiency Waste to Energy (HE WtE) plants, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Pakistan last week. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and Evert Lichtenbelt, CEO of AWECT, reached an agreement whereby AWECT will lead the development of a High Efficiency Waste to Energy plant in Karachi over the next 3 years.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan and attended by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and other senior government officials, AWECT and its trusted advisor Radiant Renewables presented their comprehensive, sustainable and economic plan to clean up Pakistan’s urban regions, reduce reliance on both fossil fuels and landfills (including their respective GHG emissions) in order to catalyze Pakistan’s transition to a circular economy as well as create hundreds of new local jobs.

AWECT’s proposal was selected under the Karachi Transformation Plan (KTP), a multibillion-dollar package to boost sustainable and future proof development in Karachi.
